In 2007, eight sober home operators established the nonprofit Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing. Legislation in 2014 created voluntary certification of Massachusetts sober homes, and MASH began managing voluntary statewide sober home certification in 2016.
Search our directory to find a list of all MASH-certified sober homes. All MASH-certified sober homes follow the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) standards and have been independently inspected. It mash sober housing can be very difficult to find funding for sober living home projects in any state, and Massachusetts is no different. It’s worth keeping an eye on this agency to see if they’ll make a similar move in the future.

The State of Massachusetts
This tool is an invaluable resource to those considering operating in the state because you can use it to better understand the market and identify holes in the state’s offerings. The scholarship award varies depending on the area rents and the sober living program but covers the entirety of a 4-week stay. Provide structured scheduled, curriculum-driven, and/or otherwise defined support services and life skills development. Trained staff (peer and clinical) provide learning opportunities. Evidence that residents increase recovery capital through such things as recovery support and community service, work/employment, etc.
We expect our residents to be actively involved in an individual recovery plan. We facilitate in- house AA and NA meetings, and all residents are subject to supervised drug and alcohol testing. A policy and practice that residents be informed of payments from 3rd party payers for any fees paid on their behalf.
